Watercolor Christmas Clipart: 8 Sets for Cards and Prints

Watercolor is the most popular style for Christmas cards for a simple reason: it looks hand-painted, even when the card was made in ten minutes in Canva. Soft edges, layered color and a little paper texture make a design feel warm instead of “printed”.
But watercolor clipart is also the easiest to get wrong. Some sets are almost pastel and disappear on white paper; others are so detailed they turn muddy when printed small. So for each set below I note the colors and what it prints best on.
Which watercolor set for which project
| Set | Mood | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Cozy Animals in Sweaters (11 PNG) | highland cow, fawn & lamb | cards, nursery prints |
| Santa & Friends (67 PNG) | soft red, green & cream | kids’ cards, Advent calendars |
| Christmas Village (91 PNG) | market stalls & houses | scene building, planners |
| Christmas Flowers (40 PNG) | poinsettia & holly florals | elegant cards, invitations |
| Oh, It’s Christmas! (56 PNG) | classic red & gold | all-purpose holiday designs |
| Cozy Watercolor Christmas (27 PNG) | reindeer, sweaters & sweets | stickers, gift tags |
| Christmas Foods (10 PNG) | mulled wine, cookies & cocoa | menus, recipe cards |
| Vintage Christmas Set (300 PNG) | retro Christmas scenes | junk journals, collage |
1. Cozy Animals in Christmas Sweaters
11 PNG300 DPITransparentCommercial use
What’s inside: 11 watercolor clipart pieces. The preview shows a fluffy highland cow in a knitted sweater and scarf, a little fawn and a lamb in winter knits, with lanterns, pine and berries.
Best for: cozy Christmas cards and nursery wall art. Highland cows are a big trend right now, and this one is very soft and cute.
Idea: print the highland cow as an 8 × 10 in wall print with “Merry & Bright” underneath in a handwritten font.
2. Santa & Friends
67 PNG300 DPITransparentCommercial use
What’s inside: 67 files in soft red, green and cream: a cheerful Santa, a little elf, a reindeer, a cozy owl and bear, a sleigh, gingerbread houses, wrapped gifts and a snow globe.
Best for: kids’ Christmas cards, Advent calendars and classroom printables. The characters are round and friendly, not detailed or “grown-up”.
Idea: with 67 files you have enough for an Advent calendar: one small illustration for each of the 24 days, plus a big one for the cover.
3. Watercolor Christmas Village
91 PNG2048 px+300 DPITransparentCommercial use
What’s inside: 91 individual PNG files. The preview shows a little Christmas market: stalls, a hot chocolate stand, houses, a snowman, penguins, children, Santa’s sleigh, gifts and a toy train. Files are 2048 px wide and 2048–3072 px tall.
Best for: building your own scene. Put houses at the back, stalls in the middle and characters in front, and you have a custom Christmas village.
Idea: make a long Christmas village banner for a blog header or Etsy shop banner by lining up houses and stalls in a row.
4. Watercolor Christmas Flowers
40 PNG5 × 5 in300 DPITransparentCommercial use
What’s inside: 40 watercolor graphics of Christmas flowers (poinsettias, holly and mistletoe), floral arrangements and wreaths, plus candy canes, ornaments and snowflakes.
Best for: elegant cards, Christmas party invitations and menus. Florals feel grown-up and work for corporate cards too.
Idea: place a poinsettia arrangement in one top corner and its mirror copy in the opposite bottom corner. It’s the classic invitation layout and needs no other decoration.
5. Oh, It’s Christmas!
56 PNG4000 × 4000 px300 DPITransparentCommercial use
What’s inside: 56 PNG images at 4000 × 4000 px. The preview shows a classic red-and-gold Christmas: Santa with gifts, a red truck with presents, a decorated tree, gingerbread, a teddy bear, ornaments and holly garlands.
Best for: when you need one set that covers everything: cards, tags, labels and social posts. Large 4000 px files also print well big.
Idea: the red truck with gifts is a farmhouse favorite. Put it on a kraft background with “Home for the Holidays”.
6. Cozy Watercolor Christmas
27 PNG300 DPITransparentCommercial use
What’s inside: 27 high-resolution PNG files. The preview shows reindeer, a gnome, an elf, Christmas sweaters, stockings, a gingerbread house, gingerbread cookies, Christmas puddings, wreaths and ornaments.
Best for: sticker sheets and gift tags. The pieces are separate, cute objects, easy to arrange.
Idea: the little Christmas sweaters make great “ugly sweater party” invitations.
7. Watercolor Christmas Foods
10 PNG3000 × 3000 px300 DPITransparentCommercial use
What’s inside: 10 hand-painted festive food and drinks. The preview shows mulled wine, mince pies, a Christmas pudding, cookies with a glass of milk and hot chocolate.
Best for: Christmas dinner menus, recipe cards, bakery labels and “cookies for Santa” printables.
Idea: print a “Cookies for Santa” plate card with the cookies-and-milk illustration and a short note from Santa.
8. Vintage Christmas Set
300 PNG3000 × 3000 px300 DPITransparentCommercial use
What’s inside: the preview calls it a 300-piece Christmas set: retro Santa, vintage portraits of women in red, a Christmas dog, books, clocks, florals and ornaments, in a deep red and green palette.
Best for: junk journals, collage art and scrapbooking, where you want lots of different pieces in one style.
Idea: layer two or three pieces (a portrait, a floral and an ornament) on a page with torn paper edges for a classic junk journal spread.
Tips for printing watercolor clipart
- Paper matters more than with flat clipart. Matte or textured paper (like watercolor-style card stock) makes the soft edges look real. Glossy paper makes them look like a photo.
- Watch light colors on white. Pale washes can almost disappear on white card. If a design looks washed out, put it on a cream or kraft background.
- Don’t scale tiny details up too much. A 3000 px file prints sharp at about 10 in at 300 DPI; 4000 px files go to about 13 in.
- For sublimation, choose the stronger, more saturated sets (like Oh, It’s Christmas!). Very soft watercolor can come out paler on fabric.
How to use watercolor clipart in Canva
- Upload the PNGs (Uploads → Upload files). Transparent backgrounds let the watercolor edges blend into any color.
- Add a paper texture under the clipart: search “watercolor paper texture” in Canva’s Elements and lower its transparency.
- Pair watercolor with one script font for the greeting and a simple serif for details. My Christmas fonts for Canva post has ideas.
My own watercolor Christmas sets
I paint watercolor clipart too. These are my own sets (not affiliate links):
- Pastel Christmas: 22 watercolor PNG in blush pink, sage and gold, a soft alternative to red and green.
- Vintage Christmas Storybook: 22 PNG in a nostalgic 1950s storybook style.
- Cozy Winter Wonderland: 23 PNG of Scandinavian-style winter animals, cabins and mittens.
A quick note on how to get these sets
All eight sets are on Creative Fabrica, and most of them are only available through the All Access subscription. When I wrote this (November 2026), there was a free trial: it needs a card and renews into a paid plan unless you cancel, so check the current terms first. Each product page shows the licence; check it before using the clipart in products you sell.
