8 Free Christmas Fonts (Commercial Use OK, No Credit Card)
This post contains affiliate links. If you buy or subscribe through them, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. More about that.

A lot of “free font” pins lead to a page that asks for your credit card. These eight don’t. They’re from Google Fonts, completely free, no account needed, and their licences (SIL Open Font License, or Apache 2.0 for Mountains of Christmas) allow commercial use: cards you sell, mugs, t-shirts, shop graphics.
The only thing you can’t do with them is sell the font file itself.

The quick list
| # | Font | Style | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Mountains of Christmas | playful, storybook | kids’ cards, cookie labels |
| 2 | Great Vibes | elegant calligraphy | invitations, gift tags |
| 3 | Berkshire Swash | bold vintage script | headlines, signs |
| 4 | Dancing Script | casual handwriting | greetings, notes |
| 5 | Pacifico | retro brush | stickers, mugs |
| 6 | Playball | sporty script | menus, labels |
| 7 | Cookie | soft, sweet script | bakery and cookie packaging |
| 8 | Fredoka | rounded, cute | kids’ printables, Canva posts |
1. Mountains of Christmas

The most “Christmas” font on Google Fonts: bouncy, slightly wobbly letters that look like a storybook title.
Best for: kids’ Christmas cards, cookie labels, classroom printables. Tip: use it for two or three words only. It’s fun, not for paragraphs.

2. Great Vibes

A flowing calligraphy script with long, elegant loops. It looks expensive for a free font.
Best for: Christmas party invitations, gift tags, place cards. Tip: give it room: increase the line spacing so the loops don’t collide.

3. Berkshire Swash

A bold, vintage-feeling script with little swashes. Readable even from a distance.
Best for: headlines, farmhouse-style signs, market stall posters. Tip: pair it with a simple sans serif underneath for the details.

4. Dancing Script

A lively, casual handwriting font that bounces a little. It comes in several weights, from regular to bold.
Best for: the greeting inside a card, handwritten-style notes, social posts. Tip: use the bold weight for printing on kraft paper; thin lines can disappear.

5. Pacifico

A thick, retro brush script with a 50s surf feel, which also works surprisingly well for Christmas.
Best for: stickers, mugs, cut vinyl. The thick strokes are easy to weed. Tip: add a white outline in Canva for a sticker look.
6. Playball

A classic, slightly sporty script with clean connections. Very easy to read.
Best for: Christmas dinner menus, product labels, “Season’s Greetings” banners.
7. Cookie

A soft, sweet script that feels like a 1950s bakery sign. Perfect name for the season.
Best for: cookie bags, bakery labels, recipe cards.
8. Fredoka

Not a script: a rounded, friendly sans with several weights. It’s the perfect “body” font next to any of the scripts above.
Best for: kids’ printables, the small text on cards, Canva social posts.
How to use them in Canva
Many Google Fonts are already in Canva’s font library: type the font name into the font search and check first. If one isn’t there, download it from Google Fonts and upload the .ttf file under Brand → Fonts → Upload a font (uploading needs Canva Pro, Teams, Business, Education or Nonprofits).
Clipart to go with these fonts
A festive font looks even better next to matching clipart. These are my own hand-painted sets (not affiliate links):
- Pastel Christmas: 22 watercolor PNG in blush pink, sage and gold. Lovely with an elegant script like Great Vibes or Family Christmas.
- Vintage Christmas Storybook: 22 PNG in a nostalgic 1950s storybook style. Pairs well with bold, vintage scripts.
- Cozy Winter Wonderland: 23 PNG of Scandinavian-style winter animals, a snowy cabin and mittens. Try it with a rounded font.
- Midnight New Year’s Eve: 22 PNG for New Year’s Eve invitations and countdown printables.

Want something less common?
Free fonts are great, but they’re used everywhere. When you want a font nobody else has on their Christmas cards, these premium alternatives are my favorites:
- Instead of Great Vibes: Family Christmas, a calligraphy script with sweeping swashes, ligatures and alternates. It looks like real ink penmanship.
- Instead of Mountains of Christmas: Adorable Christmas, a sweet script with elegant swashes made for greeting cards. The swashes are PUA encoded, so they work in Canva.
- Instead of Dancing Script: Wonderful Christmas, a casual, rounded handwritten font that is easy to read, even in longer lines of text.

Those are on Creative Fabrica. Honest note: Creative Fabrica’s “free” downloads, including the items on its freebies page, need their free trial. When I wrote this (November 2026) that was 10 free downloads, with a card required, and the trial renews into a paid plan unless you cancel. If you want zero commitment, stick with the eight fonts above.
